On the morning of April 16th, Professor Zhang Zhibing, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in the UK and the Co-Dean of the China Institute at the University of Birmingham in the UK, paid a visit to our university. President Sha Aimin met with the guests in the VIP Hall of Beichen Building on the North Campus, and Vice President Fan Wen presided over the meeting.
Sha Aimin extended a warm welcome to Zhang Zhibing for his visit and briefly introduced the basic situation of Chang'an University. He said that the University of Birmingham is a well-known university in the UK, and there is a considerable degree of compatibility between the two universities in many aspects such as disciplines and majors. In particular, there is broad room for cooperation in cutting-edge fields such as transportation, energy, and materials. He looked forward to Academician Zhang introducing the valuable experience and resources of the UK's higher education system, and building a bridge for the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.

Zhang Zhibing expressed his gratitude for the university's cordial invitation and warm reception. He said that Chang'an University is an engineering institution with industry characteristics. The main purpose of his visit was to have thorough communication, enhance mutual understanding, and on this basis, identify common ground and areas of compatibility. He provided a detailed introduction to the latest policies of higher education in the UK and the international cooperation activities carried out by the University of Birmingham in recent years. He also expressed his hope that the two sides could combine their strengths, complement each other's advantages, achieve mutual benefit, and establish a friendly relationship for long-term development.


After the meeting, a symposium was held. Both sides agreed that the working levels should step up their communication, maintain regular contact through various means, and conduct exchanges and dialogues at the levels of professors, laboratories, and administration.

The main leaders of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, the Academy of Science and Technology, the Office of High-level Talents, the School of Automobile, the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and the School of Energy and Electrical Engineering participated in the above activities.
