From May 18th to 21st, 2019, Giannopoulos, academician ofAcademy of Athens and professor of Greek Aristotle University, visited our school. Secretary of the Party Committee of the schoolChen Feng andvice presidentZhao Xiangmo met with the visitor respectively. The heads of International Office and Highway College accompanied the meeting.
Chen Feng,secretary of the Party Committee of the school, expressed his sincere welcome to academician Giannopoulosfor his visit. He introduced to academician Giannopoulos about the university's responsibilities and achievements in proactively responding to the national and local needs, giving full play to the characteristics of its specialties, and vigorously promoting infrastructure construction and serving the local economy and society.He said thatacademician Giannopoulos, is a well-known expert and senior scholar in the field of international transport.He has held long important positions in well-known academic institutions in the international and Greek transportation industry and has achieved fruitful results inresearch fields such as transportation policy and transportation planning. These results play an important role in promoting the communication and development of the international transportation industry. He hopes to take this visit of academician Giannopoulos as an opportunity to strengthen mutual communication, enhance understanding and further promote extensive and in-depth cooperation.

During the meeting, vice president Zhao Xiangmo briefed the guest on the school's history, scale, discipline characteristics, talent training and international exchanges, focusing on the academic research in the field of intelligent transportation. He pointed out that our university has always been committed to international development and attaches great importance to the cooperation and exchange with internationally renowned universities and scholars. He stressed that our university has established an inter-university cooperative relationship with Aristotle university, and the research field of academician Giannopoulos is almost consistent with the research direction of our university's dominant discipline, which has a natural advantage of cooperation. He hopes that academician Giannopoulos will make full use of his academic resources to promote academic communication between the research teams of the two sides, take joint application forinternational engineering projects as the lead, actively carry out joint scientific research, generate more excellent results in the field of intelligent transportation, and make efforts to push bilateral cooperation to more fields and higher levels.

Academician Giannopoulos expressed his gratitude to the warm reception of our school, praised the university’s outstanding contribution in the field of infrastructure construction and social services and expressed high support for the cooperation plan. He briefly introduced his study and work experience, research field, academic achievements and other basic information. He emphasized that his own academic research field have many similarities with Chang’an University transportation engineering discipline research and Chang 'an University has a strong strength in the field of intelligent transportation. It has undertaken many major scientific research projects in this field in China, and the relevant research has also reached the international leading level. The two sides have broad prospects for cooperation. He is looking forward to building more consensus, provide more opportunities for bilateral cooperation and deepen bilateral relations and promote the sustained and in-depth development of bilateral educational exchanges.

Giannopoulos, a member of the Academy of Athens, a professor at Aristotle University, is mainly engaged in research in the fields of transportation planning and transportation policy. He is currently Chairman of the TRB International Cooperation Committee of the United States. He was the Chairman of the EU Transport Advisory Committee and the Dean of the Greek Transportation Research Institute. Hosted or participated in more than 200 research projects, published more than 250 high-level scientific research papers, and published 12 monographs.
