On October 23, 2018, Prof. Jan Eloff, Vice Minister of Engineering, University of Pretoria, South Africa, was invited to visit our school. Deputy Secretary Sha Aimin first extended a warm welcome to Professor Jan Eloff and his delegation. He briefly introduced the history of the school, the scale of schooling and the cultivation of talents, and highlighted the construction of the distinctive disciplines of the school. On the same day, the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was held. Deputy Secretary Sha Aimin introduced Professor Jan Eloff to the responsibility and contribution of the school in promoting China's transportation infrastructure construction industry. He pointed out that the school attaches great importance to and actively promotes internationalization construction, and is willing to carry out pragmatic cooperation with internationally renowned universities such as the University of Pretoria in South Africa to learn from each other's strengths and seek common development. He hopes that with the visit of Professor JanEloff as an opportunity, he will continue to deepen the cooperation and exchange between the two universities and strive to push the cooperation between the two sides to more fields and higher levels.

Professor JanEloff expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of our school and expressed his strong support for the cooperation ideas proposed by Deputy Secretary Sha Aimin. He gave a brief introduction to the basic situation of the University of Pretoria. He emphasized that the University of Pretoria is the largest university in South Africa, and its disciplines and planning have many similarities with our school. He hoped that through this meeting, he would gather more consensus, bring more opportunities for cooperation and exchanges between the two sides, accelerate the two-way academic exchanges between teachers and students, continue to deepen the cooperation between the two sides, and work together to promote the educational exchanges and technological innovation between the two universities.
