Vice president of University of Waterloo Professor Susan Tighe visited Chang'an University

On Oct 17th, 2017, the vice president of University of Waterloo Professor Susan Tighe was invited to visit our University and President Chen Feng welcomed the guests in the Guest Hall at the Academic Center, accompanied by chief directors of International Cooperation Office and School of Highway.

President Chen Feng expressed a warm welcome to the arrival of Professor Susan Tighe and gave a brief introduction to the university’s recent development. He said that fruitful cooperation between the two universities in the fields of student exchange, faculty visit and joint scientific research have been established. He hoped that the range and forms of collaboration could be promoted through Vice President Susan Tighe’s visit. He emphasized that on the basis of the existing cooperation, more flexible ways for student exchange could be explored, the existing scientific research platforms should be updated, and more fruitful scientific achievements could be produced.

Professor Susan Tighe expressed gratitude to the warm reception of our university and showed agreements to the cooperation ideas President Chen Feng put forward. She briefly introduced the recent development and internationalization of University of Waterloo, and said that UW pays great attention to the collaboration with Chang’an University, and has got fruitful achievements in traffic and transportation engineering.She hoped that the depth and width of the cooperation could be furthered and more in-depth collaboration between two sides could be established in the near future.

University of Waterloo is a research-oriented comprehensive university located in the city of Waterloo of Ontario, Canada. It has over 30,000 undergraduate students and postgraduate students. The university is famous for its disciplines of mathematics, computer science and engineering science. There are 7 colleges in UW, College of Medical Science, College of Arts, College of Mathematics, College of Engineering, College of Science, College of Environmental Science and College of Postgraduate. The university confers over 100 bachelor degrees, ad 28 master and doctor degrees. UW has ranked the first among comprehensive universities for ten years on the ranking of MacLean’s of Canada. It ranked 152ndby QS in 2016-2017.
