On the December 5th2016, the delegation led by the Professor Susan Tighe, the next Chairman of Civil Engineering Association of Canada, director of National Pavement and Transportation Technology Center and professor of Waterloo University, were invited to visit our university and attend the opening ceremony of "China and Canada Road Engineering and Technical Cooperation Research Center". Vice President Zhao Junhai welcomed the guests in the Guest Hall at the Academic Center, accompanied by the chief director of International Office Jiang Zaiwen and dean of the School of Highway Xie Yongli.
Vice President Zhao expressed a warm welcome to the arrival of the delegation led by Prof. Susan Tighe and introduced the development of Chang’ an University of recent years and focused review the cooperation and exchange process of our university and Waterloo University. He pointed out that the two sides have carried out a wide range of cooperation on the student communication, teacher exchanges and cooperation research. This set up of the “China and Canada Pavement Engineering Technology Cooperation Research Center” is mark that the cooperation between two sides getting better, and we hoped the set up of the Center as the opportunity speed up depth cooperation between two sides in various fields, to jointly promote the development of the road transport industry and provide a powerful help and make due contributions.
Professor Susan Tighe expressed gratitude to the warm reception of our university and highly appreciated the basic conception of Vice President Zhao about the cooperation between two universities. She emphasized that in the future their university will the cooperation between the two universities has a bright future. She said that in the future their university will actively make use of its advantages of academic research resources,and take the "China and Canadian Road Engineering and Technical Cooperation Research Center" as the basis to contribute for the two schools in-depth cooperation.
After the meeting, the two universities signed the "Sino-Canadian road engineering and technical cooperation research center" cooperation agreement, Zhao Junhai, vice president, and Professor Susan Tighe respectively on behalf of the two universities as the center of the opening.
After the ceremony, Prof. Susan Tighe and the related leaders and professors of the School of Highway made further exchanges on the cooperation mode and mode of operation of the China-Canada Road Engineering Technology Cooperation Research Center, and Prof. Susan Tighe gave lectures for the teachers and students.
