From Sep 9thto Sep. 16th, 2014, President Ma Jian paid visits to University of Dublin in Ireland, University of Nottingham and Coventry University in Britain on invitation from the presidents of the three universities. Directors of Development Planning Department and International Cooperation Office accompanied the visit.
President Andrew Deeks of University of Dublin warmly welcomed the visit of the delegation from Chang’an University and gave a brief introduction of University of Dublin. He hoped that University of Dublin and Chang’an University could build all-round cooperation. President Ma Jian thanked for the hospitality of University of Dublin and gave a brief introduction of Chang’an University. Both partied exchanged the opinions about joint nurturing of students, visits of faculty, cooperation in research and information sharing, and reached a broad agreement. After the meeting, the comprehensive cooperation agreements and agreements on student joint-nurturing were signed.
During the visit, the delegation also had a meeting with the dean of Civil Engineering College and professors of University of Dublin. President Ma Jian listened to the introduction of the research by both the directors of Structural Engineering Department and Water Environment Research Center and had a deep discussion about the all-round cooperation between the two universities and reached a broad agreement especially in the fields of joint-nurturing of postgraduate students, joint appliance of research projects, visits of scholars and setting up the research center together. The delegation had a tour of the campus, student activity center and some laboratories. Dean of Civil Engineering Department, administrator of International Cooperation Department and coordinator of the program of University of Dublin attended the meeting and the ceremony of signing the agreements between the two universities.
Vice President Hai-Sui Yu of University of Nottingham had a meeting with the delegation. He warmly welcomed the visit, briefly introducing University of Nottingham, and expressed the intention of building up substantial exchange and cooperation with Chang’an University. Director of International Partnership Department Helen Foster gave an introduction of the student exchange in University of Nottingham; director of Research Achievement Transformation Center Jason Feehily introduced the development of scientific research and the transformed achievements. President Ma Jian thanked for the hospitality of University of Nottingham, and had a deep discussion with Vice President Hai-Sui Yu about the substantial collaboration between the two universities and reached a broad agreement in the fields of faculty visit, student exchange, joint-research, information sharing and setting up laboratory together. Both partied had a deep discussion about the joint nurturing of students, visits of faculty, cooperation in research and information sharing, and reached a broad agreement. Both parties considered that the programs setting are similar between two universities and this has built a solid foundation for cooperation and the cooperation will surely improve the development of both universities.
Provost Donna Kendall of Coventry University had a meeting with the delegation and gave a warm welcome. He gave a brief introduction f Coventry University and hopes that all-round cooperation between Coventry University and Chang’an University could be built. President Ma Jian thanked for the hospitality of Coventry University. After a brief introduction of Chang’an University, he exchanged opinions about joint-nurturing of students, faculty visits, cooperation in scientific research, information sharing and setting up laboratory together, reaching an agreement. After the meeting, the comprehensive cooperation agreements between Chang’an University and Coventry University were signed.

University of Dublin had broad cooperation with international education institutions and scientific research institutes, and enjoyed a worldwide fame due to its high-quality education and innovative research projects.
University of Nottingham, founded in the year 1881, is a famous comprehensive key university in Britain. It has 64 departments belonging to 6 colleges. University of Nottingham ranked the 14th in Britain and 75th worldwide according to 2013/14QS world university rankings.
The history of Coventry University can be traced back to the Coventry Design Institute founded in 1843. The present Coventry University was founded in the year 1970 after the merger of several colleges. It ranked the 45thin Britain according to the university ranking of The Times. Automobile Engineering is the the discipline with the most advantage in Coventry University; its Automobile Engineering, Design of Engine and Speed Changing Box and other relevant majors rank the first in Britain.
